Closed corner frames, also known as finished corner frames, are the ultimate in framing quality and craftsmanship. While most custom picture frames today are cut from mass-produced, pre-finished lengths of moulding, closed corner frames are made by building the frame first and then applying the finish. This traditional method, used for centuries, makes for enduring and beautiful frames with strong, clean, virtually seamless corners.
Many of these professionally hand made frames are considerably more expensive than regular frames, but provide a distinctive look and finished quality that makes them STAND APART from any other frames available. These frames are not only made to order in any size, they can be made with an assortment of finishes and colors.
Corners match perfectly and joints are invisible. As well the carved pattern is adjusted to end in a perfect manner at each of the four frame corners, following a symmetric design.
An extra characteristic of the majority SM hand carved frames, is the fact that most of them have a symmetric design, making carving patterns to be even at the corners and at the center of each one of the four rails (sides), making the carving blueprint process crucial during manufacturing to give the frame its magnificent proportions. Without this design feature, they would lack the style, beauty and character that make them a San Marcos Frame. Picture shows the carved detail in the middle of the frame rail where the carved pattern alters direction following a symmetric design. The carved detail will be exclusive (different) for each particular frame style. |
